Juan the Drunkard

.....Here comes Juan the Drunkard.....
Lock up the ladies 'cause I'm taking them with me.

I'm gonna sing you a well-known ballad
About what happened down at the Flower Ranch.
The sad story of a rancher in love
Who was a drunk, a party guy, and a gambler.

His name was Juan, but they called him the Drunkard.
He was brave and reckless in love.
He took the prettiest women away,
From those fields, not a single flower was left.

One Sunday, while he was getting wasted,
They rushed to the bar to let him know,
"Watch out, Juan, they're looking for you,
There are a lot of guys; don’t let them kill you."

He didn’t have time to hop on his horse,
Gun in hand, they came at him in a bunch.
He yelled, "I’m drunk and I’m a tough guy!"
When a bullet pierced through his heart.

"And I’m looking for a dark-skinned girl, 'cause dark girls
Even the mules...!"

The corn grew tall with the rain in the pasture,
And the doves are flying to the gravel pit.
Pretty bulls are being taken to the slaughterhouse today,
What a good horse the foreman is riding.

The bells of the sanctuary are ringing,
All the faithful are heading to pray.
And through the mountains, the ranchers are coming down
To bury a dead man they’re bringing along.

In a very humble hut, a child is crying,
The women give him advice and then leave.
While his mother comforts him with affection,
Looking at the sky, she cries and prays for her Juan.

Here I end this ballad,
About Juan the rancher, the Drunkard and the Trickster,
Who thought he was the ladies' favorite
And was a drunk, a party guy, and a gambler.
