The Empty Chair
We look with sadness at the empty chair,
Empty that with your deceit and infamy remained,
The ruin of your life, theirs, and mine.
Sometimes they ask me where you'll be,
And the fact of lying to them fills me with dread,
I tell them you're in heaven and from there you'll watch us,
That you loved us a lot and were a saint.
I had to lie to them to avoid making them suffer,
And I had to cry blood from my soul,
I couldn't tell them that you were capable,
Of leaving your home and children for another.
Spoken:
Sometimes they ask me if you're in heaven,
And I bite my lips when I say yes.
Not the oldest one who already understands your infamy
And lowers his gaze without looking at me directly;
He never enters your room, nor calls out your name
And he likes to isolate himself, far, far from people.
I see the youngest one running around the house,
With her childish smile and innocent joy,
Then she stops, kisses and hugs you,
Although she only caresses... The empty chair.
I had to lie to them to avoid making them suffer,
And I had to cry blood from my soul,
I couldn't tell them that you were capable,
Of leaving your home and children for another
