Querido Diário
Chico Buarque
Dear Diary
Today I ran into some acquaintances of mine
They greet me warmly
They tell me to have lots of light, to stay with God
They pity me for living alone
Today the city woke up all in the opposite direction
Men with anger, honking, sirens, commotion
Back home, on the street, I picked up a dog
That every hour takes a piece of me
Today I thought about having a religion
Maybe sacrifice a sheep
To worship a statue
To love a woman without a hole
Today I finally met love
And love was a dark plot
I don't hit her, not even with a flower
But if she cries, desire inflames me
Today the enemy came to spy on me
Set an ambush at the river bend
Brought a club to break me
But I don't break because I'm soft, you see
