The first one came to me
Like someone from a flower shop
Brought a stuffed animal
Brought an amethyst brooch
Told me about his travels
And the perks he had
Showed me his watch
Called me his queen

He found me so unguarded
That he touched my heart
But he didn’t deny me anything
And, scared, I said: No

The second one came to me
Like someone coming from the bar
Brought a bottle of liquor
So bitter to swallow
Asked about my past
And sniffed my food
Rummaged through my drawer
Called me lost

That he scratched my heart
But he didn’t give me anything
And, scared, I said: No

The third one came to me
Like someone out of nowhere
He didn’t bring me anything
Also didn’t ask anything
I barely know his name
But I get what he wants
Laid down on my bed
And calls me his woman

He crept in quietly
And before I could say no
He settled in like a squatter
Inside my heart
