Reis do Agronegócio

Kings of Agribusiness

Oh owners of agrobiz, oh kings of agribusiness
Oh food producers with poison
You who increase your possession every year
And pollute every inch of land
And each of you owns a large estate
And mistreat and destroy the environment
I looked deep into each of your minds
And saw how much each of you, deep down, lies

You drive wandering peasants away who err
And don't employ as many people as you claim
You don't even kill the hunger in the land
Nor feed the people as much as you claim
It's the small producer who provides for us and
Your deputies don't protect them, as they say:
Another lie from you, old Pinocchios
Have you seen how your nose is growing?

You tell me that Brazil won't develop
Without fierce agrobiz, development
But to this day, there has never really been
Such a destructive development
That's what the scientist, the voice of science
You don't even listen to, says
Nor does the voice of conscience move you
You only listen to what's convenient

For you, who emit tons of dioxide
For you, who have a neurotic temperament
The poor should eat food with pesticides
The people should eat if it's genetically modified
That's what a certain day said
Miss Deforestation Chainsaw
What I think is that you should
Only eat your 'food' daily

You elect yourselves and legislate, like cynics
In your own interest or that of a related company:
The slaughterhouse, the transgenic multi and chemical agents
That fund each deputy of the bench
Even a communist falls for the anti-ecological lobby
Of the ruralist whose clan is a big club
Including even those who are racist and homophobic
You try to cover up, but it's all on YouTube

You drive away those who fight for justice;
You oppress those who produce and preserve
You pillage, harass, and covet
Indigenous land, quilombos, and reserves
You prune and screw over
Anyone who stands as a barrier in front of you
Be it the squatter, the rubber tapper, or the landless
The extractivist, the environmentalist, or the nun

You create, cruelly kill cattle
Whose carcasses form a huge waste
You exterminate fish, snails
Frogs and birds and bees from their niche
And you degrade plants, animals, and other beings
And think the poor, black, and indigenous are all 'backward'
Why do you show such contempt for a living being?
Why do you only value and think about your profit?

I see the freedom given to those who engage
Beyond the law, on the slave labor list
And the amnesty granted to those who destroy
The green, life, without losing a penny
With pain I see scenes of such strong horror
Just as I see with love the beautiful source
And beyond the hill the sunset because luckily
You haven't destroyed the horizon... Yet

Your plane spills a rain of poison
On the plantation and causes violent nausea
And intoxicates adults and children
In the mother who contaminates the breastfeeding child
Insecticide causes abortion and suicide
But in the mansion, the fact doesn't move you
You don't care about those lives anymore
See how agrobiz dehumanizes...:

Deforests mines, the Amazon, Mato Grosso...;
Infects soil, rivers, air, groundwater;
Consumes, more than any other business
A quadrillion liters of water, which is dramatic
For so much harm, from which you don't redeem yourselves
For such excess that only leads to scarcity
For this drought, this crisis, this crime
There are no greater culprits than you

I see your land becoming infertile
In a time still far away, but not too far
And I see your land remaining barren
In a time increasingly closer, and I ask you
What will your children think of
You faced with such a nefarious legacy
You who turn farms today into a large
Green desert only of soy, sugar cane, or pasture?

For the thousands who yesterday were and tomorrow will be
Killed by your grain business
For the thousands of victims of cancer
Of hunger and thirst, and fire and bullet, and strokes
Know that you profit from this business
Many millions, while losing your soul
I would be happy if finally died
This system that causes us so much trauma

I would be happy if finally died
This system that causes us so much trauma

I would be happy, oh
This system that causes us so much trauma

Oh owners of agrobiz, oh kings of agribusiness
Oh food producers with poison
