O Ipê e o Prisioneiro (Ipê Florido)
Chrystian & Ralf
The Ipê and the Prisoner (Blooming Ipê)
When many years ago
I was imprisoned in this cold cell
On the second floor of the penitentiary
Down the street I could see
When a gardener planted an ipê
And as the days went by
It grew and came to life
While I suffered
My blooming ipê
Next to my cell
Now reaches the height
Of my window
There's only one difference between us now
In here the nights
No longer have dawn
How much brightness you have outside
I see on your trunk
A parasitic vine embracing you tightly
While it hugs you, it sucks your sap
Leading you to death
That's how it was with me
She embraced me, then betrayed me
That's why I killed her
And now I only have her company
My blooming ipê
Next to my cell
Now reaches the height
Of my window
There's only one difference between us now
In here the nights
No longer have dawn
How much brightness you have outside
