Nada Igual
Clara Sanabras
Nothing Like It
So many times, I asked forgetfulness
How to forget, what was, what has been?
As if it were
To lose the key so I can never go back in
On any given day and stay outside
Trying to remember
A face with or without a name in a city
With a taste of caresses and salty water
Where did the tears of my loneliness go?
In the empty streets of an autumn Sunday
I will never live anything like it
The outline of the years carved from fine wood is
And has left no trace of your figure
For me, its defined shape will remain
Such a tangible sculpture of your eternal beauty
With time, it will endure
Waiting for a new morning to wake up
And leave behind your prolonged dream
I'll ask you if you want, maybe, to continue
With us just like we had left it
And find you by my side
I will never live, anything like it
