Addio Sogni di Gloria

Farewell Dreams of Glory
When happy kids we went to school
with the bag over our shoulder and an apple in our pocket,
for the future we had a gala dress,
so many hopes of glory, of fame.
But time inexorably traced the path
and with bowed heads we drown in our destiny.
Farewell dreams of glory,
farewell castles in the air,
I look at my desk with deaf resentment,
I try to drive away, but in vain, the monotony.
Farewell dreams of youth,
why, why don't you come back?
I am an autumn leaf that in the storm
fears the grayness of days, dreads the winter.
I waited for the sincere woman,
companion of my dreams,
but in vain I searched, I searched,
love where are you too?
Farewell dreams of glory,
farewell castles in the air,
I take the pen and continue
the double game,
I make a blot of ink,
my fingers tremble.
Better to keep silent the memories
oh my old heart.
Dreams of glory,
farewell!
