Always Along the Wall
I've had many great chicks in my life.
During the day, I mostly slept, but at night, I was awake.
In cafes, dance halls, that's where I had my biggest catch!
And often, people say with laughter: Today is the end for him!
But one thing I've kept: a strong sense of duty.
That's why I always say towards morning: Let's call it a night, or it'll be too much!
And then I sneak quietly - always along the wall, always along the wall -
heading home from the stroll - always along the wall, always along the wall -
Even if my old lady argues at home - always along the wall, always along the wall -
yeah, I'm a crazy dude! - always along the wall, along the wall!
As I said: in dance halls, I spend most of my time.
A waltz to the left is my life, with a little hop.
But when the final hour comes and the Grim Reaper calls me,
I'll happily take the stroll to Peter.
At the gates of heaven, I'll knock and ask: Old man, let me in!
It's written that those who have loved a lot shall be forgiven a lot!
And then he sneaks quietly - always along the wall, always along the wall -
heading home from the journey of love - always along the wall, always along the wall -
Even if my old lady curses downstairs - always along the wall, always along the wall -
yeah, I was a crazy dude - always along the wall, along the wall.
