On the thirteenth of May, in the cova da Iria
Appeared shining the Virgin Mary
Hail, hail, hail Mary
The Virgin Mary surrounded by light
Our blessed mother and mother of Jesus
It was to the little shepherds that the Virgin spoke
Since then, a new light shone in souls
With sweet words She told us to pray
The Virgin Mary to save us
But never forget our hearts
That the Virgin made determinations for us
She spoke against luxury, against impudence
Of immodest sinful fashions
She said that purity pleases Jesus
She said that lust leads to fire
On the thirteenth of October was her farewell
And the Virgin Mary returned to the heavens
To the homeland that is yours, Lady of the heavens
Give honor, joy, and God's grace
To the blessed Virgin sing her praise
All our land in a hymn of love
Let the whole world praise her to be saved
From the valley to the mountain, from the mountain to the sea
Ah! Let us give thanks for giving us her good
To the Virgin Mary, our dear Mother
And to repay such grace and favor
May our souls have only kindness and love
Hail, Holy Virgin, Star that guides us!
Hail, Mother of the Church, Oh! Virgin Mary!
