The Mailman
Early morning follows the march
always in the same cadence
and there goes from box to box
putting in the mail
for some are joys
for others are sorrows
the mailman is not to blame
it's his profession
The mailman has arrived
from nine to ten
the neighbor next door
in a bathrobe
approached the window
on tiptoes
and shouted: 'Is there a letter for me?'
and the mailman, who stutters
waits a bit
and answers:
'No no no no no
no no I don't bring anything
only only only only
I bring the package
from your maid'
And Mr. Roque despairs
for the check that never comes
feeling unfortunately
how much the penny is missed
for some are joys
for others are sorrows
the mailman is not to blame
it's his profession

When the mailman is late
the protests are in chorus
the anxious girls
for news of the courtship
for some are joys
for others are sorrows
the mailman is not to blame
it's his profession
