Dancing
Paolo Conte
Dancing
There was a moment when you
seemed like nothing to me,
it was when your hand
left me alone and nonexistent,
you twirled and came back here,
the orchestra moved on
and then, no one saw you coming
And we started chewing
this old rumba again,
we smiled and greeted each other
and stayed on the dance floor,
it always seemed big to us
this dance of ours half sweet and half bitter
and we stayed in the competition
Dancing
The dancers who do it
a bit for profession,
a bit for true vocation
have a step of obsession
and they know well that the hazard
light as the leopard
and they know that all the figures
have a thousand nuances
If in my step you felt
unease and a deep bow,
I was close to a distant city
all mother-of-pearl, silver,
wind, iron, fire
and I couldn't find anyone here
to talk about it a little
Dancing
Yes, I am always more distracted
and even more alone and fake
and the unease and the bows
make me an orangutan
moving with the grace
of someone not convinced
that the rumba is only
the joy of the tango
