Pueblo podrido
El Cuarteto de Nos
Rotten Town
I live in a rotten town
where everything is rotten
and I always go out at night in the dark
treading among the garbage.
I won't get very far
on a bus full of old people
because I get robbed with a gun
by twelve-year-old delinquents.
That's how I want to be
My shoes get wet
stepping on loose tiles
and the street doesn't give me a break
avoiding horse dung.
And the thieves don't care
if it's easy to buy off the authorities
And when I seek shelter at home
I have to kick beggars out.
That's how I want to be
There's nothing to do here anymore
Those who stayed did so because they didn't leave
And there's an ugly smell on the corner
If it's not cold, it's hot.
Monday night, there's nowhere to go
Still better not to go out
If the neighbors hit me
if I don't give them money for wine.
And if some rotten person asks me
Why don't you leave this rotten town?
I tell them, don't make me get violent
and listen to what I'm saying.
That's how I want to be
