La Cumbia de Galileo

Galileo's Cumbia
It was in Pisa, Italy where he was born
From a very young age he studied medicine
But numbers were his passion
Mathematics he soon mastered
To cultivate reason!
One day he heard of a Dutch invention that brought distant things closer
He designed a telescope in no time
And with the invention came fame
It was Galileo Galilei!
Move with Galileo!
Galileo Galilei!
Move with Galileo!
(Hey, hey, hey!)
Galileo Galilei!
He surpassed the great Newton
And discovered the first law of motion
But he questioned Aristotle
Different weights fall at the same time
The Pope was not happy! (This is going to get interesting!)
He pointed his telescope to the sky
He saw there were mountains on the Moon!
He saw Saturn had big ears!
And he saw Jupiter had several moons!
That caused a stir!
It seems Ptolemy was wrong!
The world is never still
And the Inquisition arrived! (Oh my! What did they tell him?)
The Earth does not move! (It's the law!)
Galileo Galilei! (Did you hear?!)
The Earth does not move!
Galileo Galilei! (Did you understand?!)
The Earth does not move! You can see it
How could Ptolemy be wrong?
The Bible does not lie, who will you believe?
And in front of everyone, he had to retract
Why were they going to burn him? (And what did he say?)
And yet it moves!, he said
Galileo Galilei
And yet it moves! How do you see it?
Galileo Galilei!
Move with Galileo!
Galileo Galilei!
Move with Galileo!
Galileo Galilei!
He was sentenced to house arrest
While he, blind, was fading away
Still, he worked daily
Writing and researching
Until he died
And it was over!
