Yo Aprendí
Danay Suarez
I Learned
I learned that most of the time
Things are not what they seem
That we are a species specialized in lying
To build a future with lies
Count how many times we make disappear
With just a phrase what we wouldn't want to lose
Life goes by, we let it run
The train with love that only comes once
I learned not to mock anyone with arrogance
Because I don't know what my circumstances will be
And elegance is just a matter of ego
The clothes I look best in are those of the soul
I learned that calmness is a good counselor
When making accurate decisions
That I'm not the smartest
But with the opportunist, I must be fierce
I know that one can make mistakes
Like a normal human being
It's very valuable to be forgiven
But even more to forgive
That one cannot trample on the word
Trample on morality
That love is not enough when respect is lacking
It's like plowing the sea
I'm not better than anyone, no one is better than me
Even though I don't understand why everyone wants to be alike
How people clone themselves, losing their own voice
And not knowing where to walk when they wake up
I learned that wanting to know everything they think
About me is a threat
It's opening the door to envy and
Saying: How are you, ma'am? Come in, you're at home!
Things happen
But mistakes weigh heavily, because then they drag on
Because then they crush you like chains of the soul
I know how much you miss a brother when you need him
I know sometimes the one who suffers the most is the one who loves you the most
I know I'll have other early mornings where I don't even have a pillow
I already understood that life is beautiful but not a fairy tale
I know that one can make mistakes
Like a normal human being
It's very valuable to be forgiven
But even more to forgive
That one cannot trample on the word
Trample on morality
That love is not enough when respect is lacking
It's like plowing the sea
