Feita Pra Fugir

One day I met, a girl different from the others out there
She had no shame or fear of smiling
She set fire to any boring place, or any long and cold night

And when I saw her coming, I felt that force disarray me
The rose with thorns made to pierce, wanted to be independent
Turned everything into a fight, but she taught me
Some things I confess I never learned
I just agreed and kept on smiling
Listening to that voice talking about things I didn't understand

I asked her to stay, showed her everything I could give
I spent words, gestures to comfort
But it wasn't enough to change the essence of a soul
Made to escape

So she went on
Fleeing from the sunrise and worry
Sure to be following her own heart
Showing her color in the midst of this crowd of gray tones

And when it comes to an end
Not even an old passion will recognize her
She lost her old features along the way
Paid freedom the price of a wandering and well-lived life

But she was happy
In a way society will never understand
She tasted all the sensations she could taste
Felt the storm touch her and turned into a breeze

Which I feel here today
Every now and then she comes to whistle at my window
Singing songs she learned elsewhere
And populating my dreams to remind me that she's still alive today
