Cielito de Tres Por Ocho
Daniel Viglietti
Sky of Three by Eight
There goes sky and more sky,
Sky of the morning...
After the nightingales,
The frog can sing well.
Sky, sky that's right,
The king is just a man,
And to die for him to live,
Damn! is nonsense.
Sky, sky that's right,
Sky of the horseshoe,
For such a lantern,
It's better to sleep in the dark.
There goes sky and more sky,
Freedom, death to the tyrant,
Either recognize ourselves as free
Or goodbye and sword in hand.
Sky, sky that's right,
Union and we enter,
And hitting our mouths
We put out the fire.
Sky of the rough ones
Oh! sky of the colts,
They will jump when they feel
The spurs and the back.
Sky, sky that's right,
Sky of deceit,
They throw the dice in vain
Because they always have to lose.
Sky, sky that's right,
Sky of three by eight,
It started to unravel
Just like dark corn.
If we were to lose the battle,
We know our fate,
And since we swore to be free,
Either freedom or death.
