Si Volviera Jesús
Dante A. Linyera
If Jesus Came Back
Twenty centuries ago, pale Jesus,
You looked at the world nailed to your cross;
Twenty centuries ago in your sad land
The crazy mortals play at war.
Blood of hate and hunger spills from selfishness,
Caiaphas and Pilate rule the same
And if you came back in this century,
Just like back then, Judas would sell you out.
If Jesus came back,
Once again on the cross
They'd make him suffer.
The woman deceives
And the man gets cruel,
And there's no sun or bread
For the poor guy
Who still believes, blessed,
That goodness exists...
If you came back, Jesus,
Once again with your cross
You'd have to bear it.
Injustice reigns. Where is the love
That you preached, sweet redeemer?
Magdalene wanders through the alleys
Stoned, starving... passions take charge...
Everything is bought and everything is sold.
Innocence suffers, no one understands it...
How right you were! What a terrifying truth!
Oh, Jesus, your kingdom was not of this earth!
