Comme la lune
Joe Dassin
Like the Moon
One day as I showed my rifle to a stranger
He said it was beautiful, especially with my name engraved on it
Then he turned it around, pointed the barrel at me
Told me, 'Hands up!', then saluted me and left
And I was like the moon
Not proud of myself
But without resentment
Life, that's how it is
Yeah, that's how it is
The next day in the newspapers I learned that I was wanted
Under my photo, it said the bank had been robbed
And that I had forgotten my rifle on the counter
I felt down reading my paper
And I was like the moon
Not proud of myself
But without resentment
Life, that's how it is
Yeah, that's how it is
A few days later, he came to see me in my prison
He was with my wife, who I thought was at home
He looked sad and told me with angelic eyes
'We came to see you to bring you oranges'
And I was like the moon
Not proud of myself
But without resentment
Life, that's how it is
Yeah, that's how it is
Luckily in my prison, I quickly made
Shoes with heels in the back and heels in the front
So my jailers didn't know which way I was going
When they saw me pass, they couldn't catch me
They were like the moon
A bit silly
But without resentment
Life, that's how it is
Yeah, that's how it is
