Le Café Des Trois Colombes
Joe Dassin
The Café of the Three Doves
Nancy in winter, wet snow
A girl walks into a cafe
I drink my drink, she sits next to me
I don't know how to approach it
Rain, shine, nothing great
But it's good to force your star
Then comes the moment when we talk about ourselves
And the snow melted under our feet
We met at the Café des Trois Colombes
At the meeting of homeless loves
We were good, we felt alone in the world
We had nothing, but we had all life
Nancy in spring, it looks like noon
She loves me and I love her too
We walk while talking, we redo philosophy
I take a photo of it a thousand times
The small bistros all around the square
In the sun have taken out their terraces
But there was too much light and noise
We were waiting for night to arrive
See you at the café des trois colombes
At the meetings of homeless loves
We were good, we felt alone in the world
We had nothing, but we had all life
Nancy, it's too far, it's at the end of the earth
It gets further away with each birthday
But I am sure, my sorrows remember it
Happiness passed through Lorraine
She went off to follow other paths
Who don't often come across mine
I forgot you, but it's stronger than me, I sometimes think of you
See you at the café des trois colombes
At the meeting of homeless loves
We were good, we felt alone in the world
We had nothing, but we had all life
