La Misma Maleta

I wanted to win but first I learned to lose
I wanted to fly, fell from the sky, and learned to run
I thought I knew, but life taught me to understand
That it’s necessary to be human even when it hurts to be

I made promises to myself that I never kept
I believed in people who don’t believe in who I’ve always been
I did everything even for nothing because I still lost
When love felt strong, I always broke down

I planned the future even though the past always fucked me up
And the present is the result of what hurt
I got strong even though inside everything broke
I idealized someone who always threw me from the sky

It seems crazy to think you can fail yourself
But you do when you’re too stupid to stay quiet
There are so many people and few who know how to love
And we built a wall against the world just to heal
I know you’ve seen yourself in every line
After all, we share the same suitcase

We heal the people who broke what we were
And even though we forgive them, their mistakes are the same
We stay quiet even when others questioned what we felt
And little by little, here in silence, we broke apart

And it was falling that taught me not to fall
And it was losing that helped me conquer my fears
And now I laugh at things, I’ve bloomed again
Because if I set my mind to it, I can make it happen

I have a suitcase that fills up with the dreams I’ve achieved
And I took out the old stuff that holds me back
I kept the memories and let go of the ones that hurt
I have a couple of crazy goals I want to reach

And with the pieces that remained from these years
I built what I now call the best version of me
In the end, the bad ones will pay for what they did
And what I gave to others will come back to me
