The Song of the Sibyl
Dead Can Dance
The Song of the Sibyl
On the day of judgment
For those who have served
A king will come eternally
Clothed in our mortal flesh
From heaven he will certainly come
To judge the age
Before the judgment is given
A great sign will appear
The sun will lose its brightness
The earth will tremble with fear
Afterwards, a great noise will be heard
Showing serious comfort
There will be cries and thunder
Infernal confusions will be shown
From heaven great fire will fall
Causing much suffering
The earth will burn furiously
People will be in great terror
Then there will be a strong sign
Of a general earthquake
The stones will break apart
And the mountains will melt
Then no one will have the talent
For gold, riches, or silver
Everyone will be waiting
For the sentence that will be given
All their talents will be taken away
All their teeth will be crushed
There will be no man who does not cry
The whole world will be in sorrow
The hills and plains will be the same
There the good and bad will be
Kings, dukes, counts, and barons
Will be judged for their deeds
Afterwards, terribly will come
The son of the almighty
He will judge the dead and the living
Those who have done well will be separated
The infants who were not born
Will cry within their mothers
And they will all say sorrowfully
"Help us, almighty God"
Mother of God, pray for us
Since you are the mother of sinners
May we have a good sentence
And possess paradise
All of you who listen
Devoutly pray to God
With great devotion in your hearts
May He lead you to salvation
