They break down the door to my house
on a winter Tuesday, in the early morning
five guys in ski masks come in
military camo, dragging me out of bed
kicking, hitting, and punching
they shove me out to the street, and toss me in a car
I don’t know what’s happening, I’m dazed
everything’s a blur, I don’t know where they’re taking me
my nose is bleeding, my head is pounding
I can’t breathe, I’m choking
I’m in a car, locked up
and I fear the worst, I’d rather not say it
what just happened to me, like so many friends
counterinsurgency has taken me down
and I’m just another one, another disappeared
because I’m in the trunk of a black falcon

cold sweat, blood, and fear
it was true, it was real
what was rumored at the university
the military is taking us out
one by one after kidnapping us
but right now, I’d rather not think
about where they’re taking me or what’s gonna happen
because if what they told us comes true
about hidden torture centers
I know I’m just, as I suspect
a lamb heading to the slaughter
and I’m still locked up in this trunk
traveling towards horror, fearing the worst
and knowing, that I’m entering
a dark tunnel, from which there’s no escape
and of which nothing is known, nor will it be
who my executioner was, who’s gonna kill me
