Para Todo El Que Sabe
Fernando Delgadillo
For Everyone Who Knows
There was a day
when I was pondering
about wisdom
and I said to myself
a certain saying that I don't understand
nor comprehend yet.
Know, if you don't know,
said the one who knew nothing,
to everyone lacking judgment
who almost believed him.
Thanks to my intelligence
I say - and I say it right - that he concluded,
because the one who already knows
knows well that he doesn't know everything,
and the one who doesn't know a thing
doesn't even have ways to find out
what he doesn't know... only if someone tells him.
Let someone who knows he knows,
approach the one who doesn't know
and ask him:
'And you, what do you know?' and tell him:
'this you didn't know'.
But the shadow of a doubt
confused my heart
and accused my unequivocal reason of lightness...
But if that one who doesn't know
knows other different things
that the one who knows doesn't know...?
Ah! Well, there lies the wisdom
of the one who doesn't know how to know
other known things
that must be acknowledged...
I said to myself, and I said it right.
So everyone knows.
In short, everyone knows:
some say what they know
and others know what they say,
but there's no one who knows everything.
By the way... You who know,
tell me what I was saying,
because even though I knew it,
I think I forgot it already.
