Aguacate
Fernando Delgadillo
Avocado
Dangerous masked
No longer wants to go to school
Because he gets stuck in English
And his tasks don't come out.
Everything he had learned
Doesn't even apply at recess
When other inmates play
Without anyone preferring him.
It's not that they think he's bad
It's just that they don't understand him
And they don't like any kid
Who seems different.
They don't let him get close
And they push him, and they pull him away and they gather
And he goes to the other side
Where no questions are asked.
His family thinks it's time
For him to learn karate
His grandma knits him a sweater
They don't tell him, he doesn't know.
His dad bought him a rifle
And a joke book to chat
His little brother contemplates him
He hasn't learned to speak.
He knows everything there is to know about animals
He even says he wants to be a cop when he grows up
To take care of all of them
Who don't know he's a swimming champion.
Then he practices riddles to make conversation
Yesterday he confided one to me: Cate of my heart.
