Bajo Tu Pisada
Fernando Delgadillo
Under Your Footstep
How much I've missed talking about you these days
Maybe it weighs on me what I have to trust
And now that you're not here to tease me with your jokes
how I've remembered when you were around
kicking up dust in the air under your footstep
and under the afternoon sun cutting through the gray sky
heading to the grove, like three kilos of stone
where the wind moans when it can't get out
I've kept wandering just as lost when I go to the forest
here in the highlands the hills are still my place
Maybe from where you are, you've peeked out, to see me stumble!
Today I've come to look at the appearance your home holds in the sky
today I've come to whisper a couple more things in your ear
the old customs, the fire, and the peaks have their roots
And I couldn't imagine you resting... resting
And the world hasn't changed with your death, I'd say it's the same!
With no more emotion than carrying their lives on their shoulders to walk
with no more intention than seeking with their death the earth to frolic
And I know that where you are, you mock what I try to do for myself!
I've only believed to see... for I've only believed to see
Oh, I've only believed to see the smile hidden in the sky on your face...
