Coplas de Amor

Love Couplets
There were so many things
That I felt,
That behind the bars,
Facing your eyes,
They heard me say:
Tell me you love me, tell me by God!
Even if you don't feel it, even if it's a lie,
But tell me.
Tell me softly,
It will be easier for you to tell me like that,
And your 'affection' will be 'for' my sorrows
Just like rain in May and April.
Have mercy on my heart,
Tell me you love me, tell me you love me,
Tell me by God!
I love you more than my eyes,
I love you more than my life,
More than the air I breathe
And more than my mother.
May my pulses stop
If I stop loving you,
May the bells toll for me
If I ever fail you.
You are my life and my death,
I swear to you, companion;
I shouldn't love you,
I shouldn't love you
And yet I do.
For my health, I swear to you
That you are the first to me,
And it hurts me to the core
From how much I love you.
I don't care about your gray hair
Or what others feel,
What matters to me is that you know
That I truly love you.
I am captive to your kisses.
And so I wrote on my flag:
I will love you as long as I live,
Companion, as long as I live,
And even after I die...
