The Blackberry Bush
In the cafe of the east among claps and joys
The blackberry bush was singing;
They named her that because they say she had
Eyes like a blackberry.
She fell in love with a singer and olé
And then she went with a marquis
Who filled her with diamonds and olé
From head to toe
People said she was cold
Because she was mocking men
But one day, with jealous rage
They saw the blackberry bush crying.
What does the blackberry bush have that at all hours
She cries, she cries in the corners
She who always laughed and boasted
That she broke hearts. (repeat)
She tested a love and knew a affection
That brings her through the street of pain
The flamencos who saw her watch her at odd hours
Because they are determined
To know the cursed love that bewitched the blackberry bush.
When the clock struck twelve, a song of agony
The blackberry bush was singing
No one knows the reasons nor the intricacies knew
Of that treacherous pain
They say that one day in the east and olé
A woman went to see her
When she had her in front of her and olé
They said who knows what
Of what they talked about, no one has known
But the blackberry bush knew it crying
With this little rumba that has quickly spread
That is already publishing to the whole world
What does the blackberry bush have that at all hours
She cries, she cries in the corners
She who always laughed and boasted
That she broke hearts. (repeat)
She wears a wedding ring, they came to tell me
But I had already kissed him and it's too late for me
Let them publish my sin and the sorrow that devours me
And don't turn away from me
Knowing the cursed love that bewitched the blackberry bush.
