Manto Estrelado
Dino Franco e Mouraí
Starry Mantle
The night light when it descends over the field
It seems to open the mantle of shining stars
The blue sky all adorned
It's the dress sprinkled with moonlit diamonds
And how beautiful it is to see the open sky
The backlands being covered in all its splendor
Everything emerging with refined beauty
Showing that nature could only come from God
Down here, every dew-covered field
Makes a sky on the other side in perfect imitation
The fireflies, jealous of the stars
Try to convince them that they are stars on the ground
The beautiful flowers, like nocturnal lovers
Are opening up perfumed, overflowing with love
But soon after, when the Sun breaks the day
They will say they just wanted to get ready for the hummingbird
As the day breaks, the Sun prevails
From the moment it rises until the new dusk
The brightly colored butterflies fluttering
Are hues adorning our flowing rivers
Everything happens in this dazzling world
In the verdant treasure named backlands
Where the caboclo, with every appearing star
Sings verses of a prayer that comes from his heart
Backlands, backlands, cradle that saw me born
Backlands, backlands, I will sing until I die
