Caboclo Centenário

Centennial Caboclo
I don't intend to be famous
Nor do I want to be a millionaire
I live far from the city
In a lonely little ranch
I'm not anyone's boss
Nor am I a worker
The backlands give me everything
I don't depend on a salary
To sell my harvest
I have no middleman
I know how to do my business
I don't need a businessman
I'm not intelligent
But I'm not a fool either
I don't fall into traps
Or the vicar's tale
In my log cabin
I have only the essentials
I don't wear a gold ring
Or a calendar watch
The forest is my garden
The lagoon is my aquarium
The flowering of the ipê tree
Marks my birthday
A corner of my ranch
Serves as my sanctuary
Where I say my prayers
To the Good Jesus of Calvary
Every night I pray a rosary
With the intention of a missionary
The ten strings of the guitar
Are the beads of my rosary
That's how I go through life
And fulfill my fate
I sing country songs
Only with imaginary themes
I write verses of love
Without using a dictionary
Everyone calls me
The centennial caboclo
