Beautiful Priest's Daughter
I was still quite young
I used to hunt some marsh birds back then,
when she came to swim
beautiful priest's daughter.
She didn't know where I was
watching her secretly through the reeds and grass.
Night fell over the river
like a veil.
And the moon watches over the willow,
silvering the sky with a swarm of stars,
and water drops like pearls
shining all around her.
Oh crazy heart, crazy dreams,
my friends were already getting engaged,
but I only wanted one
beautiful priest's daughter.
With a strange song, the road echoes,
that winter the wedding guests came for her,
from afar, a world
foreign to me.
And I was walking down the street,
the first snow was falling.
And sometimes the bells still ring
as they take me who knows where.
I have a chance to get married,
I have remained a bachelor until now,
and I have never again met
the beautiful priest's daughter.
A quiet, peaceful life,
sometimes I play a card or write a verse,
things flow
I keep myself apart from them.
I love the good, I love the easy ones,
some are real, some are not,
they are all fairies, they are all queens,
and they are all insignificant compared to her.
