Libertad
Don Omar
Freedom
My name is William Omar Rivera,
Better known worldwide as Don Omar the king,
I'm from San Juan, Puerto Rico, 30 years old,
And I've had issues with the law since '96,
I'm the oldest of 3 siblings, my mother's pride,
I always lent a hand to the family, but my father betrayed me,
Arrested in 2004 in my singing career,
I've been defamed since then, but they can swear by me
I'm acclaimed worldwide because I always set the foundation,
Made it clear who I am, the talented gangster,
As a criminal, I won't ask for anything from anyone,
Because no one really knows who I am,
I'm from a poor neighborhood where drugs are sold,
Where people drink, gamble, and get robbed at any hour,
In all this dirty street, so little ethics found,
Like the white-collar who wants to talk politics,
To steal and lie to us with a plastic smile,
And take away what little life gave us,
Ma'am, if you looked less at me and more at your flock,
You'd see your little girl is a prostitute on Myspace,
That your son's cocaine addiction is from Scarface,
And your husband's alcoholism is Johnny Walker's fault,
Ma'am, sit down and let's talk woman to woman,
Answer me about all that, what do I have to do with it?
Let me be free as I wish to be,
And let me live in peace like you do,
Don't meddle where you don't belong or speak what you don't know,
Don, and heaven is one, it has one key,
Ma'am reporter, please don't be ignorant,
Freedom isn't lost just by being in jail,
Nowadays, it's worse in the free community to have to swallow,
The abuses of all these wretches and drink their drool,
It's better to be behind bars without getting tired
Night after night, wishing to overcome,
Teaching the world that you can kneel,
I know David, free in spirit,
Sentenced in 2002 to 24 years,
The situation is real, life continues in his veins,
They say he escaped from prison in an unreal dream,
To return to his mom and hug his girls,
Stop, ma'am, please don't be clueless,
Your son will never be an admiral,
He'll be the punching bag of some dirty lieutenant,
Who will mistreat him until he remembers his mother,
I don't live off stories, be aware that you label a criminal,
The one who kills innocents, sells drugs, and deceives people,
So how are we different, your son, and the president?
All I have is to thank God,
For giving me the opportunity for a new future,
Opportunity to be who I am again,
Responsibility I've never let go of,
I'll never let go, what I have now is more time,
For me, it's a great pride to be Don Omar, to be a father,
After this, do you believe in Puerto Rico's justice?
I believe in justice, in God's justice,
And I believe that in my island, Puerto Rico,
There are still people seeking the truth
