La Chaquipura
Duo Coplanacu
The Chaquipura
In a very poor little ranch
Close to the salt flat
Rag in a tin with grease
Was the main light.
They talked about bygone times
Work, struggle, and pain;
Some things changed
But that never changed.
Mentioning the chacarera
An old lady stood up
Saying for those times
No one danced like me.
A nice girl said an old man
With her, I would have spent
Even if it's like a child
Lying down with chaquipura.
Descending the dark night
She brought her stars closer
And even the rolled torzal
Shone with silver.
I like a dark-skinned woman
The white woman too;
As a young man, I have been
Eager for love.
Beautiful verses from the past
I don't think they have passed
There are still those who sing
With improvised verses.
And so we spent the night
Longing for that time
Lightly I in chacarera
My beautiful black woman getting plump.
