De hoaven van Delfziel
Ede Staal
The harbors of Delfzijl
The North Sea was sleeping
Who came back from Kiel
And in the distance I saw
The towers of Delfzijl
The sun slowly went down
As if it fell into the water
And all the seagulls sang
We're going back to Delfzijl
I've wandered everywhere
And often far from home
I know the pubs by heart
But nowhere do I feel at home
Even if they talk about Hamburg
How good it was there
I prefer to drop anchor
In the harbor of Delfzijl
The pilot kept talking
He didn't notice
I didn't think about books anymore
I had something else on my mind
The TM 47 was also on its way home
And the skipper waved his hand
Tonight we'll stay home
I've wandered everywhere
And often far from home
I know the pubs by heart
But nowhere do I feel at home
Although my boat has no wheelhouse
No mast and no keel
I want to drop anchor with you
In the harbor of Delfzijl
