L'Homme À La Moto
Édith Piaf
The Man on the Motorcycle
He wore pants, motorcycle boots
A black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
His motorcycle that took off like a cannonball
Spread terror throughout the region
He never dressed up, never washed
Nails full of grease but on his biceps he had
A tattoo with a blue heart on his pale skin
And just inside, it read "Mom I love you"
He had a girlfriend named Marie-Lou
People pitied her, a child of his age
Because everyone knew well that he loved above all
His damn motorcycle much more
He wore pants, motorcycle boots
A black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
His motorcycle that took off like a cannonball
Spread terror throughout the region
Marie-Lou, the poor girl implored him, begged him
Said: "Don't leave tonight, I'll cry if you go..."
But the words were lost, her tears as well
In the noise of the machine and the exhaust pipe
He leaped like a devil with flames in his eyes
At the level crossing, it was like a flash of fire
Against a locomotive speeding towards noon
And when they cleared the debris
They found his pants, his motorcycle boots
His black leather jacket with an eagle on the back
But nothing left of the motorcycle and nothing of that demon
Who spread terror throughout the region
