Y'a pas de printemps
Édith Piaf
There's No Spring
Never any rest
Always on the run
Subway, office
And back again
When Sunday comes, gotta get things done
Wash, iron, patch up my struggles
And it’s the same
Day after day
Never any sunshine
And no love.
There's no spring in my life
I don’t believe in calendars
I can save all I want,
But I can’t afford spring
May rolls by and forgets me
And happiness does the same
Maybe I’m just not pretty enough
But in my life, there’s no spring.
But fate played a trick on me
And on the twenty-first of March
When spring sings loudly of its arrival
I met a handsome guy
He said, "Come on"
He smiled at me
And in my corner
Everything bloomed.
There’s spring in my life now
And I don’t care about calendars
'Cause now it’s pure madness
I even have it in January
I don’t need to save anymore
My heart and I are happy
Maybe I’m not pretty, pretty
But in my life, there’s plenty of spring.
