Apologia Tanguera

Tanguera Apology
Tango rante that you have
the soul of a slap,
that you are carrying a hatchet
on your forehead and you hide it;
from head to toe,
dressed in full mourning,
you are a sugarcane symbol
that goes strong tapping;
you are Laughter and you are Death,
dressed as a tango dancer.
You are among the trickery
a piece of bad luck;
you are the death mask
that seals the deal;
you are the soul of gossip
stuck in a bandoneon;
you are the fork, the betrayal
and you are a weed flower,
the compliment and the sweet talk
that perfumes the heart.
You are the sad lament,
that, entangling senses,
you enter through the ears
and dig into the heart.
You are the compadron requiem,
the one who moaned in Paris;
with your swagger, do you hear me?,
you were the fierce nail
that made the Apache tremble
and made the Mimís cry.
Beautiful tango that stretches
in a swaggering bandola
and comes out dying
while it is danced and inhaled...
Tango! You are like a strip
of arrogance and evil;
you are tears and apron,
you are wake and cocaine,
and you are a woman's sadness
that pierces like a dagger
