That Year
That year it rained a lot
A lot of shiny water
That year of iron-gray freedom
We did what we could in the wet night of Kruununhaka
We did it once, the last time, and again and again
That year it rained
Defiance slowly died
That year the truth moved to the city
We made a camp in the warmth of the gas stove at night
I spoke a little, you spoke better
You do what you can to escape death
You do what you can, but you never have enough time
We closed ourselves off in music like kids in sorrow
We still do that
That year it rained a lot
A lot of shiny time
That year of the weary longing for peace
We only hoped, asked for nothing
We were armored kids long fallen
You fight and fear until you get used to death
You believe in anything until you get tired of hating
That year we still believed in something
Just like a little bit still.
