Franguinho Na Panela
Eduardo Costa
Chicken in the Pot
The corner where I live
Is a beautiful catwalk
The carijó sings early
Very close to the window
I get up when
The chapel bell rings
And off I go to the field
I have God as a sentinel
Some days my lunch
Is a bread with bologna
But in my little ranch
The woman and the little ones
Have chicken in the pot
I have a good black donkey
Good for plowing and good for riding
For the children's milk
The cow Cinderella
Chicken in the yard
And chatty parrot
I walk in any way
In boots or slippers
In the field, if hunger strikes
I tighten my belt
But in my little ranch
The woman and the little ones
Have chicken in the pot
When I have no work
Sadness overwhelms me
I take on odd jobs
I leave the village early
I take my little mix
It's a small bowl
It's just flour with egg
But the yolk is very yellow
That's my lunch
That goes down dry in my throat
But in my little ranch
The woman and the little ones
Have chicken in the pot
My wife is sweet
And says I'm her sweet
She does everything for me
And everything I do is for her
We don't wear wool or linen
It's cotton and flannel
That's how our life is
That we lead with caution
If I die, God will take care
Because life is very beautiful
There won't be a shortage in the little ranch
For the woman and the little ones
The chicken in the pot
