La Loba
Eduardo Gatti
The She-Wolf
There is a woman whose name seems like gold and sometimes it is
His name is freedom in the heart
Humans who cover the world with their work and their glass of wine
They tell them everything there is, in strong speeches
In what direction do those who talk all day long depart?
They ride on steel mules believing everything
Death comes to them without a cup, without clothes, or tone on the cape
For the law of the whole land is stronger than its vanity
And I would do it for you, little man in time
Your skies are forgiveness in lands beyond the wide sea
A child and his lost space, an inheritance of glory all trampled
They are crazy laws, written in what?
They step on me, they eject me, they attract me, they flatter me, as if I were a variable
Who thinks nice things, they believe you that way
Being a channel that builds valleys, that affirms what remakes us
That grows, that loves over time like a wolf
I am a man, woman, child and father; on this celestial planet
And tell me who was the first human being humiliated and challenged by everyone
Wasn't he a little wiser in understanding you, me?
To the old and bereft, to the absolute madman who loves very much
Affection and torment, truth and lies, we talk commonplaces
It's not about invading, it's about maturing
With palms in my right hand and here in my left, an empty cup
Maybe it's just a misunderstanding, your hate loses me
I don't want your maroon bear and save your white eagle
Lest they die of thirst and hunger
Do not think you are the owner of everything, nor break the wings of the swan
Because the law of the whole land is stronger than its vanity
And I would do it for you, little man in time
Your skies are forgiveness in lands beyond the wide sea
