The Taxi Driver
"I remember back in '92, my friend, I was watching over the homeland
for my boss out on the ranch, didn’t have much going on, but then
I headed to Tijuana, caught a coyote to cross over, got
myself a job as a taxi driver. One day I met a kid all excited
because he was going to see his girlfriend, poor guy had no idea what was coming...
Hey driver, step on it, I can’t take it anymore without seeing her,
please, I’m going to buy flowers for my love.
And I kept driving, cruising, yeah, just driving and whistling...
Well, I don’t know what happened, we arrived at the agreed address,
the friend got out, I stayed in my cab.
When I saw him, he looked like a scolded dog,
the poor guy was all worked up, I don’t know if they pulled a fast one on him.
Hey driver, go again, I messed up, this isn’t the right street...
tell me where to go,
far from here, just drive without asking.
I kept driving and he was crying with his flowers,
kept on, yeah, just driving and he was tossing pretty flowers (2)
oh, love..."
