El Agricultor
El Canto del Loco
The Farmer
My dad was a farmer
my mom was a shop clerk
I worked in a mine
hauling debris outside
and a little person job
in a far-off circus
and today, today I want to change
So listen, brother from Rayo Vallecano
and I tell you I'm not American
and even though I have hair and a goatee from Alcobendas
I don’t shoplift, nor rob old ladies
I’m an honest guy, a guy with cash
if I don’t eat hake, I’ll go and eat a grouper
and now, my friend, I want to live in society
I want money, I want to work
and now I have a chalet, a pool,
a racket, a jet ski, even a pickup truck
and even though I have money to give to the masses
I spend it all on "the baby that drinks you."
And now I’m in high society
that even Lequio will envy
I bought my dad a tractor
I set my mom up with a store
the mine I manage myself
I’ve even paid the taxes
and I’ve helped that circus of little people
and today, today I want to live
I wake up suddenly, everyone’s staring at me
I fell off the scaffold from high up in the mine
ah... ...
and this strange dream has left me bitter
I head back home, rummaging through the trash
ah... ...
My dad returned the tractor
my mom’s store got seized
the mine has gone to ruin
the tax man took everything
and that circus of little people got screwed
and today, today I want to die
