Del Tiempo de Mi Niñez
El Chaqueño Palavecino
From the Time of My Childhood
My mom knew how to tell me
I remember when I was a kid
You take a nap
Don't go wandering around.
Right there she would order me
To throw something on the floor
And under the eaves
I would take a nap on a little mat.
Under the drowsiness of the nap
Everything would fall silent
And with the kids to the woods
On tiptoe I would escape.
How far away that cherished childhood is now
I wish mom would tell me
To take a nap on a little mat.
It seems like it was just now
When my mom would order me
To run an errand for her
I would grumble and go.
If I found the kids
Playing marbles
The bag of errands
Would be left to the side.
I would take out my marbles
And if I won
Like a little boss
My little pocket would be full.
Oh, if the money
Got lost from playing
Before getting home
I would start crying.
