Cara Sucia (con Rossy de Palma)
El Chojin
Dirty Face (feat. Rossy de Palma)
This is the story of a kid who was born in the mid-70s,
son of an African father and an Extremaduran mother,
according to what they tell him, it wasn't easy for the couple,
in a time with prejudices like now,
the child brought love to the nest,
and in a third of that baby,
he took his first steps,
it was the beginning of a career,
that still doesn't know where it leads,
the first hit was at school,
a classmate looks for him: my mom says you have a dirty face,
the child doesn't understand,
before going to class the next day,
he washes hard,
on tiptoes to be able to see himself,
it doesn't matter how much he washes,
his face is always darker than the other kids,
first jokes, later cruel taunts,
and a 9-year-old child defends himself as he can,
the child never cried, the child was always strong,
the child didn't see why he was different,
the child lives in silence with bitterness,
because that child was a dirty face.
[Chorus Chojin and Rossy de Palma]
Child learns that you are different,
child resists, child be strong,
be indifferent to the rejection of ignorant people,
and lift that precious dirty face. (x2)
Between fights at school, the child becomes a teenager,
he gained respect among his peers, but,
to know someone is to start over,
he has to prove he's just like everyone else constantly,
the boy comes to believe that everything has passed,
he is the leader of his group, the strongest, the fastest,
but, the boy meets a girl one day and doubts return,
the boy invites, the girl refuses,
the first thing he hears is: "I'm not racist but,
I just don't like them so dark",
something normal I suppose in adolescence,
but the girl broke his last thread of innocence,
when at 13 a secret police officer approaches you,
and searches you among all your friends,
you realize that you will never again,
be just one more,
and that the rules,
depend on the color you are
the boy slowly became a man,
he left behind his identity conflicts,
but even today he asks himself the same question,
Did they have the right to turn him into a dirty face?
[Chorus Chojin and Rossy de Palma]
Child learns that you are different,
child resists, child be strong,
be indifferent to the rejection of ignorant people,
and lift that precious dirty face. (x2)
[Rossy de Palma]: dirty face, dirty face (x6)
[Chojin]:
This song is dedicated,
to all the dirty faces from all neighborhoods,
it's hard when neither your mother nor your father can tell you who you are, but it must have something good you know,
it's 2003 always strong again, again, 995, again invading Spain
2003 with the pain ...
[Rossy de Palma]
Tell me, child of my life,
I'll heal your wounds,
tell me, child of my love,
I'll clean you from those insults (x3)
