Por qué amo a Buenos Aires
Eladia Blázquez
Why I Love Buenos Aires
I would feed on, chewing on tangos,
overflowing with joy, lacking cash,
because my party is watching from a corner
my City, which is the prettiest of chicks.
Feeling like everything is mine, the sun, the air,
the silt of your river... hey, Buenos Aires...
Look at how much richness God has given me
that I am the owner of your voice.
Because there's a hey!
that hurts me
and there's a why
on every corner,
because your mass that attracts and scares me
is precisely the place that I like.
Because there's love
in your tiles
and pain
is the same thing,
because I love you and I get drunk with your air
when I mention you, Buenos Aires, in my song.
I want to be a dry one but on your ground
I don't have the 'gimmick' of strange skies,
I would die from a mundane death
if I didn't see you when I raise the blinds.
I assumed you always as I feel you,
sometimes with my bad luck, my discontent,
I like to curse your humid days
and share your loneliness.
