Deserto
Elaine Martins
Desert
Suddenly he raised his eyes and beheld
An immense, almost total darkness, looking around and seeing nothing
He almost trembled, in the innermost of your being
Something told him it was the end, he began to walk amidst the vastness
Feeling hunger, thirst, and cold emptiness and desolation
Tired and with wounded feet, he almost fell to the ground
It was when suddenly he heard a voice telling him then
Son, I am here, there is nowhere else to run
I brought you to the desert, a place to meet with me
It is in the desert that God speaks to you
It is in the desert that he tests those who love
It is in the desert that he gives you renewal, holding your hands
For he watches over his people
It is in the desert where your cry is heard
It is in the desert where he sees your pain
It is in the desert amidst the thorns
That he collects your tears, you are not alone
It is in the desert that he sends manna, makes water spring from the rock
It is in the desert that he guides you by day as a cloud
And at night as a pillar of fire
And in the midst of this desert, with serpents and scorpions
Sandstorms trying to destroy you, God will make you come out
Clothed, renewed, restored, approved
Full of anointing and full of power
For you have passed through the fire and have been approved
You have stepped on the thorns and did not give up
When the cry of your voice God could hear, he answered
My son, I am here
Full of power, full of anointing
The Lord allowed you to enter this desert
But it is not in this desert that you will remain
Because the Lord will take you out of it, and you will come out
Full of anointing, full of power
Full of anointing, full of God's power
You will come out, full of power
