Terra de Ninguém
Elis Regina
No Man's Land
Keep walking in this sad march
Your troubled path
Only carries memories
And the injustice that’s been done to you
Since the day you were born
All around the world
That gave you nothing
Keep going, your road is long
Full of uncertainty
Everything is just poverty
Everything is just sadness
Everything is dead land
Where the land is good
The rich man owns it
Doesn’t let it slip away.
Stops at the end of the afternoon
Already worn out
A Northeastern falls
Says a prayer
To come back one day
And find the courage
To fight for what’s yours.
But...
The day will come
When the world will know
You can’t live without giving
Those who work are the ones
Who have the right to live
Because the land belongs to no one.
