A stranger arrived on horseback
At the pace of his mount
He carried a mission in his mind

He thought that town

The town was celebrating
As Petrita was getting married
The church bells
Were ringing for the mass
The faces of the couple
Lit up with laughter

Petrita said to her beloved
Upon entering the church

The voice of the stranger was heard
