Versos de Saudade
Em Canto e Poesia
Longing Verses
Oh old feeling
That consumes so many people
That after it appears
It hurts, relieves, doesn't disappear
All of humanity feels
And only the flower of the bond
Gave it the essence of a name
Muse of so many poems
Pure daughter of truth
How many poets sang
With rare simplicity
And if they sang so much
It's because they already knew
That it's longing
The longing that hurts us the most
When we find ourselves in a foreign land
Is to hear the rising thunder
For a March afternoon at 4:30
The noise of the river, the edge of the current
Building beautiful castles in the sand
A tower breaking the setting sun
And a mountain range for each full moon
The cowboy singing innocently
Longing for the cattle and with longing
The cattle bellowing in response to the cowboy's echo
The shrill singing of the siriena
And the old borborema's pipe
In the winter mornings of January
A longing infested in my chest
I've always had
I don't know how one lives
Without longing for anything
Even a buddy
When they leave
Leaves us as a farewell
A planted longing
Not longing for anything
Is having nothing in life
Longing!
Old longing
Get away from me
Because the time of the candle
I know it's very bad
Because only the candle is the one who watches
Who carries the candle in the end
This word longing
I've known since childhood
Longing for absent love
Is not longing, it's memory
Longing is only longing
When hope is lost
Longing is a screw
That when it falls into the thread
Only goes in by twisting
Because hitting won't work
After it rusts inside
Not even twisting it will come out
Longing is an agony
That strikes in the middle of the chest
Itchy left arm
For those who don't have the right
The return from the funeral
The fourth day of carnival
It's something that can't be helped
I'm already decreasing from feeling so much longing
Longing gives me insomnia
It takes away my appetite
I feel longing even for it when I'm not longing
Whoever wants to plant longing
Scald the seed well
Plant it in a very dry place
In the hottest sun
Because if you plant it in the wet
It grows and kills us
My house was next door
To the house where she lived
From my house I could see
Everything she had in hers
She could also see mine
The way I saw hers
When she opened the window, barely hiding the bolt
Peeking only with one eye to see if I was peeking at her
One day I was crying
On the city bench
An old lady asked me
As if she had pity
- Why are you crying, child?
I replied:
- Because of longing
I'll tell you, with all sincerity:
These tears I shed
Here in the middle of the city
Are the sorrows of a love
I lost in my youth
Excuse me for asking:
- Is he deceased?
- God forbid, no ma'am
He's strong, young, and healthy
But what I suffered for him
Was enough for me to have died
When a poet without a muse
Seeks the foliage
He quickly finds the image of his heart
But if only a longing remains
And the rhyme lends its rhyme to memory
Oh! Longing, send me away from those I'm close to (2x)
When the dawn hears my footsteps
Things become so distant wanting to pass
It arrives like this, awkwardly
Somewhat suddenly
With a desire to forget to remind you
Oh! Longing, send me away from those I'm close to (2x)
When the thrushes wake up the morning singing
They find the echo of the dew in their song
But their song will only convey uncertainty
If longing is the sad theme of that song
Oh! Longing, send me away from those I'm close to (4x)
