La Mia Città
Emma Marrone
My City
I hate rushing, the noise
The fog, the time hanging in this city
I hate high heels
That I clumsily get stuck in the manholes
Intrusive in this city
I hate myself in the mirror
Not for the flaw, but for my stupidity
I love hanging around knowing
I’ll always come back to this city
And tell me if there’s any sense to time
To my pointless wandering
And tell me if there’s really a destination
Or will I have to run for happiness
And I run, run forward and back again
I’m escaping, I want to catch the train
I hold your breath tight and think of me
That I have no brakes, I push hard
I’m not afraid of you, I want it all, I want you
I want you, I want you, I want you
I love the traffic downtown
Parking distracted
Your smile, my instability
I love playing the victim without even an excuse
Making up at night, turn off the city
And I love myself
For this, for my egocentrism
Without, rationality
I love teasing you knowing
I’ll always come back, to my city
And tell me if there’s any sense to time
To my pointless wandering
And tell me if there’s really a destination
Or will I have to run for happiness
And I run, run forward and back again
I’m escaping, I want to catch the train
I hold your breath tight and think of me
That I have no brakes, I push hard
I’m not afraid of you, I want it all, I want you
I want you, I want you, I want you
And tell me if you want it
And tell me that you’re not
Just a confused reflection
That I see at the bottom of me
And I run, run forward and back again
I’m escaping, I want to catch the train
I hold your breath tight and think of me
That I have no brakes, I push hard
I’m not afraid of you, I want it all, I want you
I want you, I want you, I want you, I want you
I want you, I want you, I want you, I want you
